penyusunan renstra

In order to prepare a guidance for the implementation of TFCA-Sumatera program in the next five years period, the Administrator has been preparing a new strategic plan 2015 – 2020. This document will be used as the reference and guidance of TFCA-Sumatera program in the next five years period.

There are three strategic objectives in the TFCA-Sumatera Strategic Plan 2015-2020:

1. Institution and policy strengthening to improve the effectiveness of sustainable forest management to be able to create an impact on the protection and maintenance of a minimum of 2 million hectares of forest by 2020.

2. Maintain and improve the quality of habitat for the survival of key species population such as Sumatran tiger, rhino, elephant and the Sumatran Orangutan both inside and outside of protected areas.

3. Empowerment and improvement of local communities welfare by designing incentives to reduce deforestation and forest degradation in priority landscapes.

One of thematic issues that will tinge the 2015-2020 strategic plan relates to the conservation of endangered species, especially tigers and rhinos from the aspect of population increase, habitat restoration and law enforcement. An additional 11 million US $ will be directed to US conservation of these species.

Currently a complete draft of strategic plan has been drawn up for further discussion by the Technical Oversight Committee Meeting which will further approved by the Oversight Committee.
